A company specializing in all aspects of windows and doors has invested £ 3.6million in a new factory and office space as part of an ongoing investment.

Starglaze, founded in 1974, is a family business founded by the parents of the current CEO.

The company, based in Waterside South, Lincoln, has grown into a manufacturer and supplier of windows and doors providing home improvement service as well as trading with companies across the UK.

The new factory and offices were built to meet the growing demand in the aluminum sector.

Construction of the new aluminum plant and offices began in October 2015 and after a year and a half of construction the new construction was operational at the end of January 2017.

The company now employs around 170 people and has state-of-the-art facilities in a brand new factory.

Shelley Bloom, head of human resources, said they need to grow with demand.

“We had to consider developing the aluminum side of the business because we were operating at full capacity in this area in the space we had,” she added. “So we had to recognize the demand that we have seen over the past seven years and grow with it.

“Along with the new plant, we have also built new office space and invested in new state-of-the-art facilities such as our new powder coating plant.

“We are really happy with the new construction, we are in the center of Lincoln with great facilities and we also have onsite parking and we hope our staff and any new staff we attract enjoy this new environment.

“The new factory is a lot nicer than the old one, but in doing so we are also investing in the region. These new facilities have also helped us provide more jobs, and many jobs have been made available to the local people, which really helps us re-inject into the local economy.

“These new facilities also help us attract people to the company, as people don’t realize how important we are.”

Shelley added, “This new development is about raising awareness of the company and giving people a sense of pride when they come to work.”

Rob Read, production manager is in charge of the management of the new aluminum plant.

He said: “The new plant is great, I’ve been here for about six months now and the facility is fantastic. I think one thing that has been essential for the employees is that they can actually see the investment in it. business make a difference.

“They went from a small space in the original factory to a space dedicated just to them, in an impressive building.

“We were able to invest in a state-of-the-art powder coating facility, which is almost operational. This means that we can coat the surface of the aluminum in any color the customer desires in-house.

“It helps us to shorten the time needed, because we can do it under our own roof. The only machine we really have here is a machine that cuts out all the holes needed for the window or the door from that point on. everything is assembled by hand.

“It’s really a bespoke product because we have a production line where the doors and windows are put together, it creates a very high quality finish for the product.

“All aspects are done on site and then we deliver to the customer across the country. We have about 30 employees working in the factory.

“We also have a quality control test that all products go through.

“As we now have a state-of-the-art building and machinery, I wanted to make sure we were operating as efficiently and at the highest level as possible.

“I think aluminum is definitely on the rise and has come back in popularity in recent years. It really is a bespoke product and I think customers love that aspect because they can create the right product for them.

The new factory also incorporated a new canteen area for workers and toilets.

In addition to the new facilities, the original factory, which houses the PVC and glass side of the company, has undergone additional investments and upgrades.
