On Tallevast, in a refitted warehouse away from prying eyes, an artistic maelstrom is brewing. For a year and a half, the painter Shannon Warren has gradually built up her own collaborative space and her creative team, and this Saturday, January 19, Art Factory 44 is celebrating its grand opening with an open house, inviting the public and prying eyes. – inside to see what these resident artists have created. “We’re ready to share,” says Warren.

The “we” of Art Factory 44 includes a core trio of two painters – Warren and Laurie Maves – and a sculptor, Jeff Hostetler. The trio share the mostly open studio space of Art Factory 44, although the shelves and walls – as well as the size of the space – leave enough space for everyone to pursue their own art, without distraction. It strikes a delicate balance, where proximity lends itself to the cross-pollination and artistic collaboration envisioned by Warren, but each working artist also retains a self-contained space. “We can see each other’s work,” says Warren, “and we inspire a lot from each other. Sometimes the artists even engage in group brainstorming sessions, where they all sit down and spit. “It seems to trigger a lot of different ideas between us,” she says.

And with Saturday’s Grand Opening and Open House, artists welcome the larger community to this shared creative space, where abstract and color-hungry painters like Maves and Warren coexist alongside crisp white tree constructions. bones that Hostetler carves and makes.

Visitors will also get a glimpse of the continued collaborative relationship with Trinity Graphic, a multi-purpose printing house based at the same location in Tallevast. Using the work created at Art Factory 44, Trinity Graphic can print images on everything from canvas to metals, and even wallpapers and floor panels to turn your entire home into a true gallery. “Decorators might be very interested in what we can do,” says Warren.

For those intrigued by what they see on Saturday, Art Factory 44 also runs workshops, including small-scale sculpture exercises with Hostetler and large-scale painting workshops led by Maves, which go beyond approaches. informal painting by numbers from some workshops. “You won’t be taught to paint a palm tree,” she warns, “you will be taught to open up and let go and let these things flow through you.”

Art Factory 44 is located at 885 Tallevast Road. Unit A, Sarasota. The inauguration and the open house will take place on Saturday January 19 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
