Big Issue seller Dave Martin showcases his artwork in London exhibition

Popular Big Issue seller Dave Martin will be showing his works at a London art gallery for the next 10 days.

The 59-year-old veteran salesman, who sold the magazine outside Tesco in Hammersmith, west London, for a decade, will bring 10 of his works to the Works on Paper and Contemporary Painting exhibition at The Brick Lane Gallery in Bethnal Green.

The seller relishes the chance to show his works from today until November 7, bringing his vibrant colors and geometric shapes to the exhibition.

“I can’t wait to be there,” Dave told The Big Issue. “I’ve come a long way with this. The last time I had a show, I had people come up to me and say, “Can I have one? Can I have one? It was a crazy rush that day so I can’t wait to be there.

“I really like doing geometric shapes because it comes naturally to me. I’ve done a few different commissions with different colors and different designs as well.

“I love when it comes to fruition for me. I love creating and when I create a piece, I’m very proud. I know a lot of artists are never happy with the finished item, but I’m proud.
